Responsibilities

The Estimator role prepares timely and accurate bid estimates for medium to large sized projects/programs within an assigned line of Business, Region, or Division, and helps plan all projects with expectations for the efficient use of personnel, equipment, materials and subcontractors within contract requirements, time guidelines and other restrictions.

 

This role requires strong understanding of the major business components and implications specific to estimating and cost control for Construction Companies while ensuring compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established Project Management Methodology and upholding H&M safety and quality management protocols.

 

Job duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Preparing and maintaining all bid documentation
  • Traveling to job locations to confirms project site conditions
  • Leading bid strategy and presentation discussions
  • Following awarded contracts to monitor extra work items
  • Procuring materials and/or credits
  • Assisting field personnel in developing and/or recommending change orders to scope as needed
  • Ensuring that bid deadlines and customer presentation requirements are met
    • Proactively identifying and suggesting solutions for known or anticipated construction problems to minimize cost and reduce risk
  • Providing insight to thought leadership in the continuous improvement of methodology, tools, and approaches using fundamentals of H&M Project Management practices
  • Interfacing with various internal and external stakeholders on planning and scheduling related items and functions, including reporting requirements, progress reporting, complaint schedules, etc.
  • Communicating with influence and presenting effectively to client group and team members

Qualifications

  • Experience in leading the estimating activity for mid to large scale projects
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and utility industry practices
  • Proficient in reading and performing take-offs of engineered drawings
  • Experienced with relevant estimating software (B2W Preferred) and MS Office Suite
  • Highly complex problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized and able to adapt to complex schedules and changes
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
  • Must be highly adaptable to new processes and procedures

 

Minimum Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Relevant Experience

 

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience:

  • 4 to 10+ years of experience submitting bids, proposals for electrical distribution project scope; preferably for PG&E 

 

Salary Range:

  • $100,000/yr to $158,000/yr
